Hi, I’m Amy Kisei

I am a Zen Buddhist Teacher, Spiritual Counselor, Astrologer and Artist.

In my Spiritual Counseling Practice, I practice at the confluence of spirituality and psychology, integrating mind, body and spirit. Spiritual Counseling can help you:

  • Companion Grief + Loss

  • Clarify Life Purpose

  • Heal Relational Conflict + Inner Conflict

  • Work with Shadow Material

  • Heal your relationship with Eating, Food or Body Image

  • Spiritual Emergence

  • Integrate Psychedelic or Mystical Experiences

  • Move Through Creative Blocks, Career Impasses and Burnout

In addition to my Zen training, I am trained in Buddhist Psychology, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dream Work, Hakomi (Somatic Therapy), Process Art and Mindful Eating. My approach also has a deep Jungian influence.

I have had a long standing interest in cosmology, myth and what the placement of the stars might say about our soul’s unfolding. I am trained in Hellenistic and Evolutionary Astrology. I do Astrological readings and offer Somatic Parts Work Sessions to explore the energies of your natal chart + transit chart.

My Zen training took place at Great Vow Zen Monastery in Oregon, I continue to lead a weekly online Meditation + Dharma talk on Monday Nights 6P PT/9P ET. I currently live in Columbus, Ohio with my partner, we facilitate an in-person meditation gathering every Wednesday from 7P - 8:30P at ILLIO in Clintonville through Mud Lotus Sangha.

  • Spiritual Counseling

My approach to spiritual counseling involves deep listening, mindful-presence and compassionate inquiry.

I use Internal Family Systems and Somatic Mindfulness Therapy (Hakomi) to help you access and transform unconscious or semi-conscious habits and beliefs.

  • Soul + Spirit Astrology

Consider the natal chart as a symbolic expression of your soul's dream.

I do natal chart and transit readings to help you connect to your life's myth and the planetary allies here to help you navigate your life's challenges and express your unique gifts.

  • Sky + rose

Realizing Impermanence:

Contemplating Life, Loss, Climate and Uncertainty

We suffer impermanence because we expect it to be otherwise. We try to create structures, systems that will be reliable, predictable, and unchanging. We have cultural values that try to hide aging, death, disability, trauma—anything that pokes a hole in the narrative of stability and progress.

So much of our systems, and therefore our thought processes, are not built on basic principles of how the world actually is, how life actually is. What would it look like if we lived rooted in this first realization: everything is changing, life is uncertain?

What systems or structures or basic principles would we instill in our society if we really embraced the truth of change, transformation, death/rebirth, impermanence? As well as an understanding that we are interdependent, there is no I separate from you, this great earth, the creatures who live here, the plants, animals, rivers and each human being.

So how do we practice impermanence?
