Moon-Gazing
Give up hope for something else
And recognize that
Bright moon
Within your own chest
This is what self-love
Is all about
This isn’t a matter of having
It or not
We are all passing through
A light that can’t
Go out
The moon is a symbol of awakening in the Zen tradition. This has always revealed to me the unknowability of our original face. We are all endowed with our own light. And yet, try to claim it–and you fail. What is there to do, but to let our love shine. Mutable, changing, moody–this is the shape of being human, this is the shape of my love.
