Guided Meditations
Awakening to the Climate Crisis Guided Meditation Series
I am offering a series of guided meditations and exercises to aid in bringing dharma practice to thoughts and feelings that may be arising in relationship to the Climate Crisis. These are methods for working with our own hearts and minds, embodying presence, resilience and love. In addition may we cultivate community and share our passions and gifts for the benefit of all beings!
Dream As Koan Guided Exercise
This is a guided meditation where we explore how to enter a dream figure and embody its energy, presence and wisdom. I liken this to koan practice in the Zen tradition.
Earth Meditation with Gratitude
This Earth Meditation is an offering to connect with the qualities of the Earth element, what you love about the Earth and to ground your heart in gratitude. This is always possible, no matter what is happening in our own bodies/minds and in the world.
Emptiness of the Body
We can experience the physical sensations of the body from many different levels. In this guided meditation we explore the experience of the body noticing the mental ideas and judgements we place on the body, experiencing the physical sensations directly and then opening to the subtle body sensations of bliss, aliveness and spaciousness. Experience the vastness of awareness through attention to this dynamic, lively body!
The Natural State
Our natural state of being is one of ease, rest, spaciousness, clarity and love. Take a five minute break and relax into the natural state, which is always available--when we stop identifying with thought processes. Let your mind be like the sky.
Great Tree Meditation
In this meditation we connect with the body as a great tree, rooted and reaching up towards the sky. An exploration of stillness / movement, stability / mobility, silence / sound, spaciousness / form. Find the tree as an ally, a teacher and a guide.
Mid-Day Mindfulness: The Breath
Take a mid-day mindfulness break and breathe fully. Let the breath awaken your body. Breath into the stuck areas of your body, heart and mind--and release! Breathing well can change your mood and your life. Let the body move in unconventional ways, follow the flow, for just a few moments
The Five Elements Meditation
An experiential exploration of the five elements (earth, water, fire, air and space) and how they manifest within the body and environment. This meditation takes one into the nature of experience, experiencing the elements directly, we may come to see that thoughts, emotions, body sensations and the world all have elemental components. This insight can help us release attachment and aversion to the particular physical, emotional and mental states that we find ourselves in. This meditation also connects us to the natural world, it is healing to open to the deep intimacy inherent in nature.
Awareness Through the Senses
In this meditation we systematically open the senses, beginning with a deep embodied guided meditation. The nature of body sensations, through-forms and sense experience is explored through careful attention and inquiry.
